Vint Cerf in Argentina

Last Thursday, November 24, we were present at the UCA Auditorium, Puerto Madero, where a talk was given by Vint Cerf, also known as the “father of the internet”.

For those who don't know him, Vint Cerf was one of the creators of the protocol that allows computers to connect, today the current president of ICANN and vice president of Google.

Also in the talk were Santiago Bilinkis, serial entrepreneur and founder of Officenet (now staples), Ariel Muslera (Partner in CAP Ventures and Advisor in The Latin American Venture Capital Association) Y Daniel Rabinovich (CTO of MercadoLibre).

The talk called "Connecting Networks" was organized by Google, Palermo Valley, Endeavor Argentina, Faculty of Social, Political and Communication Sciences of the UCA.

Don't take the internet for granted

Among other things, Vint highlighted the importance of not believing that the internet will be around forever. “It is up to all of us to fight for the essence of the network, that of sharing information, but also not taking for granted that what started out free continues to be that way; let's not take the network for granted, let's fight for it”. These comments were made around the drive by the United States government to promote the SOPA law (Stop Online Piracy Act).
