WP Rocket 3.1: Analytics and JavaScript Optimizations

Version 3.1 is already in orbit, ready to be attached to your website. And trust me, you don't want to miss out on any of these new features!

Host Google Analytics locally

Unless you're a big fan of the sense of "irony," you must be tired of it Google ask you all the time to “take advantage of browser caching” for its own log files analytics.

This screenshot is a sample of the typical message that the Google online tool https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/ throws

The WP Rocket 3.1 release introduces a new add on tracking Google which, with a single click, will take care of hosting those files locally. This means that the correct data expiration rules will be applied, and the “Take advantage of browser caching” message will become a mere memory.

You can activate this function in: Add-ons > Google Tracking

Compress and unify inline JavaScript and external JavaScripts

Another annoying point of Google Page Speed is the infamous message that asks you to delete the javascript which blocks rendering (i.e. the immediate display of page text in front of images, styles and so on).

In the Rocket 3.1 version, the function of minify Y Combine JS. This will allow you to get rid of JS messages that alert about render crash. Now, the moment you activate the function Combine JavaScript Files, WP-Rocket will find and combine all inline JS code and all external JS files and put them into one combined JS file. Since it will load at the bottom of the web page, no more render blocking!

You can activate it in: File Optimization > JavaScript Files > Minify, Combine

WooCommerce Optimization Gets Updated Snippets

If you run speed tests for your site, you'll be used to seeing this long bar for:
? wc-ajax = get_refreshed_fragments

In WP Rocket 3.1, this requirement has been optimized to reduce loading time considerably.

How to activate this function? Well, you don't have to lift a finger to do it! The new Rocket version will automatically do this job by default.

Compatibility for WPML and WooCommerce Multilingual

As if all this were not enough, an important new compatibility has been added for WPML Y WooCommerce Multilingual. Switching currencies now supports Rocket caching so prices are always displayed correctly.

Requirements

In WP Rocket 3.1 the minimum required WordPress version needed has been increased from 4.2 to 4.7. The PHP requirement is still 5.4 or higher.

Version 3.1 also contains numerous bug fixes and improvements. You can read all the details here.
