How do I delegate my com.ar domain to my hosting provider?
Updated 4 days ago
Delegating a domain means indicating which DNS servers are responsible for it, so the domain can find where your site is hosted. If you host with Duplika, the process consists of entering Duplika DNS in NIC Argentina. The process is completed online, and the delegation becomes active during the day.
Before you start
You need your CUIT/CUIL and Clave Fiscal. For domains belonging to a company or entity, the person completing the process on its behalf must log in with Clave Fiscal level 3; for personal use, level 2 or higher is sufficient.
You also need your hosting provider's DNS servers. NIC Argentina requires you to enter at least two DNS servers. The exact names of Duplika's DNS servers are listed in the Duplika DNS article.
Delegating the domain step by step
Go to nic.ar/ingreso and select CUIT/CUIL Number and Clave Fiscal. If you do not reside in Argentina, the alternative is ID and Password.
Enter your Clave Fiscal on the page that opens. The system will return you to the procedures platform. The agency that currently administers Clave Fiscal is ARCA, the successor to former AFIP, so some screens still display the name AFIP.
Within Trámites a Distancia, click Start procedure under the title NICar - Registrations, Renewals, and Other Operations.
In the list of domains that appears, click Delegate in the row for the domain you want to delegate.
If the domain is new, the Host, IPv4, IPv6, and Actions columns will be empty. Select Add a new delegation.
Enter the provider's first DNS server and click Save. Repeat the process for the second DNS server and any additional ones that apply.
Confirm the changes with Apply Changes.
Check the corresponding column in the list to verify that the domain has been delegated.
When to use Autodelegate
NIC Argentina's Autodelegate option applies when the DNS servers are within the domain you are delegating. In that case, instead of adding a new delegation, you enter the host name and its IP addresses (IPv4 and/or IPv6), then confirm with Save and Apply Changes. To host with Duplika, the usual approach is the one described in the previous steps, using Duplika's DNS servers.
How long it takes to work
NIC Argentina indicates that the delegation becomes active during the day. DNS propagation, the process by which the change is distributed across the internet and your site becomes accessible under the new hosting from anywhere in the world, begins only after that point. Complete propagation may take longer depending on the situation; in DNS propagation: how long it takes and how to check a change, we explain how to verify it.
