Shared and Reseller Hosting Resource Limits
Updated 3 days ago
On shared hosting, websites within the same cPanel account share the resources of their plan. With reseller hosting, you can distribute CPU, RAM, storage, and bandwidth across separate cPanel accounts, within the total capacity of your plan.
I/O and IOPS with no configured limits
We do not apply I/O or IOPS limits to our shared and reseller hosting plans. This allows tasks to use the available storage capacity without an additional configured cap on speed or operations per second.
The absence of these limits does not mean unlimited physical capacity or guaranteed performance. Speed depends on the storage, server load, and application; the plan's CPU, RAM, process, storage, and bandwidth limits still apply.
What each resource means
Storage: capacity for website files, databases, and email messages. Email also uses space in your plan.
Monthly bandwidth: the amount of data you can transfer during the month. It is not a measure of speed.
CPU: processing capacity expressed in equivalent cores. A value of 100% in the configuration equals 1 core; 200% equals 2 cores. It does not represent a dedicated physical processor.
RAM: memory available to the account's processes or the reseller's accounts collectively, as applicable. It is not the same as the memory limit for a single PHP script.
EP (Entry Processes): the limit on simultaneous entries into the account's execution environment, associated with dynamic requests being processed. It is not equivalent to the number of visitors or the total number of site connections.
NPROC: the limit on simultaneous processes in the environment. It is different from EP and is not an exclusive limit on PHP processes.
I/O: disk read and write speed. IOPS: the number of read and write operations per second. We do not configure caps for these two parameters.
Inodes: the number of files and directories you can store. Email messages also use inodes. Having free space does not remove this limit.
Emails per hour: the sending limit for each cPanel account. With reseller hosting, it applies individually to each subaccount.
Shared hosting limits
The resources in these tables apply to one complete cPanel account. If you host multiple websites within that account, they share CPU, RAM, EP, NPROC, storage, and the plan's other limits.
Capacity, CPU, and memory
Plan | Storage | Monthly bandwidth | CPU (cores) | RAM |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Starter | 5 GB | 50 GB | 1 | 512 MB |
Essential | 15 GB | 150 GB | 1 | 1 GB |
Advanced | 30 GB | 300 GB | 2 | 2 GB |
Professional | 60 GB | 500 GB | 3 | 3 GB |
Business | 120 GB | 1 TB | 4 | 4 GB |
Oak | 240 GB | 2 TB | 5 | 5 GB |
Oak 2 | 300 GB | 3 TB | 6 | 6 GB |
Oak 3 | 400 GB | 3 TB | 7 | 7 GB |
Processes, files, and email sending
EP and NPROC are different limits and apply at the same time. Do not add their values together or interpret them as a guaranteed number of simultaneous users or PHP scripts.
Plan | EP | NPROC | Inodes | Emails per hour |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Starter | 15 | 45 | 200,000 | 100 |
Essential | 30 | 90 | 400,000 | 200 |
Advanced | 40 | 120 | 600,000 | 300 |
Professional | 50 | 150 | 800,000 | 400 |
Business | 60 | 180 | 1,000,000 | 400 |
Oak | 70 | 210 | 1,200,000 | 400 |
Oak 2 | 80 | 240 | 1,200,000 | 400 |
Oak 3 | 90 | 270 | 1,500,000 | 400 |
Databases and domains
The total number of domains includes the main domain and addon domains. All websites hosted under these domains share the account's resources.
Plan | Databases | Addon domains | Total domains |
|---|---|---|---|
Starter | 1 | 0 | 1 |
Essential | 4 | 2 | 3 |
Advanced | 10 | 5 | 6 |
Professional | 20 | 10 | 11 |
Business | 30 | 15 | 16 |
Oak | 40 | 20 | 21 |
Oak 2 | 40 | 20 | 21 |
Oak 3 | 40 | 20 | 21 |
Reseller hosting limits
CPU, RAM, EP, and NPROC are global reseller limits. Storage and monthly bandwidth also apply to the plan total; they are not multiplied by the number of cPanel accounts.
Total plan capacity
Reseller plan | cPanel accounts | Total storage | Total monthly bandwidth |
|---|---|---|---|
Starter | 10 | 30 GB | 500 GB |
Essential | 20 | 60 GB | 1 TB |
Advanced | 40 | 90 GB | 1.5 TB |
Professional | 80 | 180 GB | 2 TB |
Business | 120 | 240 GB | 3 TB |
Global execution resources
The combined usage of all accounts must stay within these values.
Reseller plan | Total CPU (cores) | Total RAM | Global EP | Global NPROC |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Starter | 1 | 2 GB | 50 | 100 |
Essential | 2 | 2 GB | 50 | 100 |
Advanced | 2 | 4 GB | 60 | 150 |
Professional | 4 | 6 GB | 70 | 200 |
Business | 5 | 8 GB | 80 | 250 |
Limits for each cPanel account
All subaccounts on any reseller plan have the same inode and email sending limits.
Resource | Limit per cPanel account |
|---|---|
Inodes | 600,000 |
Email sending | 200 emails per hour |
I/O | No configured limit |
IOPS | No configured limit |
Inodes and hourly sending limits apply to each account separately. The space used by its files and emails counts toward the reseller's total storage.
How to distribute resources
From WHM, you can adjust CPU, RAM, storage, and bandwidth for accounts, and assign more capacity to a site that needs it. You do not need to change the entire plan as long as total usage remains within its limits.
For example, Reseller Advanced has 2 CPU cores and 4 GB of RAM for all its accounts combined, not 2 cores and 4 GB for each cPanel account. Separating websites lets you manage their access and resources individually, but does not increase the capacity included in your plan.
We use CloudLinux Shared Pro to control reseller resources. Our team manages the server infrastructure.
How to decide whether you need to upgrade your plan
The number of websites or email accounts alone is not enough to choose a plan: the storage used and the applications' simultaneous resource usage also matter.
If you notice resource restrictions or performance issues, contact us by ticket or email. We will review your case and advise you on optimizations, redistributing reseller resources, or changing your plan.
