Mail Configuration in Mozilla Thunderbird
Updated last month
To configure your email accounts in Thunderbird, you must first have created them. If you haven't done so yet, visit our guide to creating, managing, and configuring mail accounts.
Once you have created your mail account in the mail section of your control panel, you will find the configuration details at the bottom of the page. Here is an example:
Using these details, open the Thunderbird application on your computer and follow these instructions:
If this is the first time you have opened the application, the program will ask you to configure a new account, using the same dialog boxes found under Tools > Account Settings. If you cannot see the menu bar, click the icon with three horizontal lines at the top right and go to Options > Account Settings. At the bottom left, click Account Actions > Add Mail Account
When you are on the mail creation page, enter the display name (sender), email address, and password you used when creating your account
When you click Continue, the program will attempt to determine the correct settings
If it cannot do so, or if the details do not match those in cPanel, adjust the settings as needed using the Re-check button or Configure manually to enter the details from our cPanel (shown in the first screenshot of this guide).
Once you finish, the email account will be configured.
If you have multiple email accounts configured, return to Account Settings
Select Outgoing Server (SMTP) from the option on the left
Make sure the new email account is selected as the default.
