How to add an additional domain or subdomain
Updated 2 days ago
To add an additional domain or subdomain to a hosting account, we need to access cPanel and select the "Domains" option. The domain must be registered and delegated to our DNS.
Once inside the domain manager for our hosting account, you can click the "Create A New Domain" button.
If we want the new domain to access the same website as the main domain, we must leave the "Share document root" option enabled (sharing the same root directory). This is useful, for example, when we add another domain extension but want the content of our main domain to be displayed.
If we want the new domain to be independent of the main domain in our hosting plan, we must disable the "Share document root" option and complete the following fields:
New Domain Name: Enter your new domain here without www at the beginning (e.g., duplika.com).
Subdomain: We recommend leaving the default subdomain, but you can choose whichever one you want.
Document Root: We also recommend letting cPanel complete this field by default so that your files remain outside public_html (the location where your main domain's content is stored).
Click the blue «Submit» button, and you will have completed the task. The domain must use our DNS to function correctly.
