Sharing access to Google Analytics
Updated 6 months ago
If we need to bring on a manager or SEO specialist, we will need to grant them access to our website’s Google Analytics data.
The same applies when we need a third party to manage our Adwords campaigns, or perhaps when a potential buyer interested in our site asks us—quite reasonably—to view firsthand the number of visits we receive.
In these cases, we remain in control because we can revoke the new access when we no longer need it. That is why, below, we explain step by step how to share access to your Google Analytics account with a third party.
Adding a user to my Google Analytics
The first step is to log in to our account and click the gear icon to access Administration.
On the Administration screen, we must now click Account access management.
Then we need to add the user by clicking the button indicated in the screenshot below.
In this guide, we will use the Add users option (rather than “user groups,” which is more specific and advanced).
On the screen that opens, as we can see, it is possible to enter one or more email addresses. This will be the email address of the user we want to add, along with the permissions we want to grant.
Each role includes a brief description and a “More information” link for a thorough understanding of which actions the added user will or will not be able to perform.
