Use Your Email with Gmail: Sending and Receiving Options
Updated 5 days ago
You can use your Duplika email account in the Gmail mobile app via IMAP, or receive new messages in Gmail on the web through forwarding. The features for checking external accounts via POP and sending from another address are being phased out.
Google will discontinue Gmailify, POP access for external accounts, and the “Send mail as” feature for addresses hosted outside Google in January 2027. During the transition, it may restrict new configurations. Direct connection of external accounts in the Gmail app will remain available.
To receive new emails in Gmail on the web, set up automatic forwarding from your Duplika account. If you prefer to check and send messages from the original account, add it via IMAP to the Gmail app for Android, iPhone, or iPad.
Previous POP configuration for accounts that were already linked
Google stopped supporting new users of this feature after the first quarter of 2026. If you were already using it, you can refer to these settings during the transition until January 2027.
Password: The password assigned to the email account you want to check
POP server: Enter mail.tudominio.com (replacing tudominio with your account’s domain)
POP server port: 995
Leave a copy of the message: You can leave this option disabled. If you enable it, Gmail will leave a copy of the email on the server. If this option remains unchecked, emails will be downloaded from your email account to Gmail.
Always use a secure SSL connection when retrieving email: Enable this option
Assign a label to incoming messages: Optionally, you can label the emails that arrive in Gmail so you can quickly identify those received by the new account rather than by Gmail.
Archive incoming messages (Skip the Inbox): Leave this option disabled unless you want emails to bypass your inbox and go directly to the label you assigned.
Use this reference to review an existing connection; for a new configuration, choose forwarding or the mobile app with IMAP.
Sending emails from Gmail during the transition
If the “Send mail as” feature is still enabled in your account, this is the SMTP configuration used to send messages from your Duplika address. It will no longer be available for third-party accounts in January 2027; alternatively, you can use the Gmail app with your account connected directly or an email client with IMAP and SMTP.
To do this, go to the settings in your Gmail account:
Then select the Accounts and Import tab and, under the “Send mail as” option, select Add another email address.
Enter your email address, leave the Treat as alias option enabled, and use the following settings:
SMTP server: Enter mail.tudominio.com (replacing tudominio with your account’s domain)
