Email bounce: Domain has exceeded the maximum defers
Updated last month
To help control and prevent spam, our server automatically monitors the number of emails sent that have recently bounced or been deferred. When you reach a maximum limit, the next emails you try to send will be rejected by the system until at least 60 minutes have passed.
This error is commonly caused by the following reasons:
The first—and most common—is that your domain has the SPF option enabled, but you have not included our email service in it. Check whether this is the case by reviewing the SPF and DKIM Configuration guide.
As a second possibility, a malicious individual—or an automated bot—may have gained access to your email account and is sending emails pretending to be you or one of your colleagues. If this is the case, you should change the password for the compromised email account as soon as possible. To check this, we recommend using the Monitor Sending tool.
If you have reviewed both cases but neither has helped you resolve the issue, please contact us so we can review it manually.
