Ferozo and cPanel are control panels that let you manage hosting without working directly on the command line. Both handle everyday tasks involving domains, email, databases, files, PHP and backups.
Their models are quite different, however. Ferozo is a DonWeb product integrated primarily with its own infrastructure, while cPanel & WHM is an independent platform used by hosting providers and server administrators in different environments.
This comparison was updated in September 2026 because Ferozo has evolved considerably. Some differences that applied when we first published the article in 2019 no longer do: Ferozo now includes WordPress staging, Cloudflare integration, Git, backups and OpenLiteSpeed support on Cloud Servers and dedicated servers, among other functions.
Transparency: Duplika uses cPanel in its hosting plans. As well as explaining why we chose it, we link to official Ferozo and cPanel documentation so you can check the differences yourself.
Ferozo vs cPanel: quick comparison
| Feature | Ferozo | cPanel |
|---|---|---|
| Developer / ecosystem | A DonWeb product available for DonWeb servers | A WebPros product that can be licensed on compatible servers from different providers |
| Files, FTP, databases and email | Yes | Yes |
| Domains and DNS | Yes | Yes |
| PHP | Version selector and permitted settings | MultiPHP per domain and configuration through EasyApache/MultiPHP |
| WordPress | Installation and management; staging on compatible services | WP Toolkit for installation, management, cloning and staging when enabled by the provider |
| Git | Yes, in Ferozo for Cloud/Dedicated servers | Yes, through Git Version Control |
| Cloudflare | API integration | Works with Cloudflare normally; the specific integration depends on the provider |
| Web server | Apache or OpenLiteSpeed in compatible DonWeb environments | Apache by default; NGINX or LiteSpeed depending on configuration and licences |
| CloudLinux | Not listed among Ferozo’s published supported systems | Official integration and support |
| Migration from cPanel | Built-in automatic migrator with some limitations | Native transfer and restoration tools for cPanel-to-cPanel migrations |
| Portability between providers | More closely tied to the DonWeb/Ferozo ecosystem | Broader portability among providers using cPanel |
One point deserves emphasis from the start: none of these features makes a website automatically faster simply because it uses one panel or the other. Performance depends much more on hardware, the web server, PHP configuration, caching, databases, the network and the application itself.
What is Ferozo?
Ferozo is a hosting panel developed by DonWeb. Its official documentation describes a web interface for managing domains, databases, email accounts, FTP and applications.
On DonWeb hosting plans, it is the end-user panel. Cloud Servers and dedicated servers also offer Ferozo DHM, with administrator and reseller functions for creating hosting accounts, packages, limits and customised feature sets.
According to Ferozo’s official website, licences are available for DonWeb servers. See its features at Ferozo.com and in the DonWeb documentation.
What is cPanel?
cPanel & WHM is a commercial platform for hosting and Linux server administration. cPanel is the usual hosting-user interface, while WHM adds tools for managing servers, accounts, packages and resellers.
Unlike a panel tied to a particular provider’s infrastructure, cPanel can be licensed and installed on compatible servers from different companies. At the editorial review date, it officially supported systems including AlmaLinux, CloudLinux and Ubuntu, subject to the versions specified by cPanel.
For practical details, see the official cPanel documentation.
The main difference: ecosystem and portability
For someone who only wants to publish a website, both panels cover most everyday tasks. The difference becomes more significant when considering changing providers, managing many sites or choosing server infrastructure.
Ferozo is DonWeb’s own product, with licensing geared towards servers within that infrastructure. This allows DonWeb to integrate the panel closely with its services and support.
cPanel is licensed independently of the provider. If two hosting companies use cPanel, standardised formats and tools can make migration between them considerably easier.
This does not mean a site on Ferozo is “trapped”. Files, databases and email messages can be migrated. The difference is that moving between different panels usually requires more adaptation than transferring between two cPanel servers.
Migration: Ferozo has improved considerably
An important change from older versions of this article is that Ferozo now includes a migrator from cPanel.
DonWeb’s documentation states that it can copy public_html files, databases, email accounts and messages, forwarders, autoresponders, domains, subdomains and FTP accounts.
However, DonWeb also documents considerations worth knowing before migrating:
- Database and user names may change to suit Ferozo, and the migrator does not automatically correct the application’s connection configuration.
- Contacts saved in Webmail are not migrated.
- Installed SSL certificates are not transferred automatically.
- Domains configured as Addon Domains in cPanel are imported, but Ferozo does not reproduce that model in the same way and points them to
public_html.
Check these conditions in the official cPanel-to-Ferozo migration guide.
On the cPanel side, WHM provides Transfer Tool and restoration tools to copy accounts between cPanel servers. Users can also generate a full account backup. Automated restoration of a full backup is performed through WHM or with provider assistance.
Backups: both support them, but differently
Ferozo lets users create and restore backups from the panel. In DonWeb’s shared-hosting documentation at the review date, manual backup generation from Ferozo is limited to accounts up to 5 GB; for larger accounts it recommends downloading information through FTP. This is separate from automated backup systems included in individual plans.
Ferozo DHM for Cloud Servers and dedicated servers also allows automatic backups with a configurable interval, time and days of execution.
cPanel can generate and download a Full Account Backup, combining account information into one archive. It is particularly useful for backups and cPanel-to-cPanel migrations, although full restoration requires WHM or provider intervention.
The recommendation is the same for both: do not rely on a single copy stored within the same hosting account. Keep an external backup or use an independent backup system offered by your provider as well.
Domains: a potentially important difference
cPanel supports multiple domains within one account. When the provider enables the feature, each additional domain can have its own document root: an independent folder within the account.
For example, this allows two different websites under separate domains in one cPanel account, if the purchased plan permits it.
Ferozo also manages domains and subdomains, but its model is not identical. DonWeb’s migration documentation states that cPanel Addon Domains are not retained as such and are pointed to public_html.
If you have several independent websites within one cPanel account and are considering a move, discuss this difference with the destination provider beforehand.
WordPress: both panels have dedicated tools
Ferozo can install WordPress, open its administration interface and manage some tasks from the panel. DonWeb also offers WordPress Stage, which creates a test copy of a site and publishes changes afterwards. According to its documentation, staging is an additional service on compatible plans, with one stage per hosting account at a time.
cPanel integrates WP Toolkit. Its functionality includes WordPress installation and management, plugin and theme management, security measures and backups, with cloning and staging depending on the edition and the functions enabled by the provider.
Many cPanel features can be enabled or disabled by each provider through Feature Manager. Two cPanel hosting services therefore do not necessarily offer exactly the same tools.
PHP and developer tools
Ferozo lets users select PHP versions and adjust settings including memory_limit, max_execution_time, max_input_vars and upload_max_filesize. In shared hosting, available values depend on the options DonWeb enables.
Ferozo also includes Git integration on Cloud Servers and dedicated servers, including public and private repositories using SSH keys.
cPanel uses MultiPHP Manager to assign PHP versions by domain and offers Git Version Control when enabled by the provider. On servers managed through WHM, EasyApache lets administrators configure versions, extensions and stack components.
Cloudflare, LiteSpeed and performance
This is probably the section where our original article had become most outdated.
Ferozo does support Cloudflare integration. DonWeb documents an API-token connection for managing options including HTTPS, Brotli, minification, development mode and cache purging.
On compatible Cloud Servers and dedicated servers, Ferozo also supports switching between Apache and OpenLiteSpeed. DonWeb even integrates LiteSpeed Cache and Memcached in certain WordPress configurations using OpenLiteSpeed.
cPanel can use Apache, offers NGINX through official packages and has documented LiteSpeed Web Server integration. It also officially supports CloudLinux, widely used in shared hosting to isolate and manage resources per account.
It would therefore be incorrect to say “Ferozo is slow because it does not support LiteSpeed”, or that cPanel is fast simply because it is cPanel. The panel is one part of the platform; performance depends on the stack each provider builds around it.
Security depends much more on the provider than the panel
Both panels manage SSL and common security tasks. Ferozo offers user 2FA, SSL certificates and, in compatible Ferozo DHM configurations, automated Let’s Encrypt issuance. cPanel also offers 2FA, AutoSSL and a broad ecosystem of security tools for administrators.
For shared-hosting customers, however, something matters more than the panel’s buttons: how the provider maintains its servers, isolates accounts, implements backups, monitors infrastructure and supports customers during an incident.
Licensing and cost
On shared hosting, the panel’s cost is normally included in the service price. Comparing only what a Ferozo or cPanel licence costs the provider therefore has little value for most end users.
For your own servers or Cloud Servers, the licensing models do differ. cPanel uses commercial licences with different account limits. Ferozo also requires licensing for Cloud/Dedicated servers, and DonWeb offers account-based options, including unlimited-account licences.
If you manage your own server, licence costs can matter. If you buy managed hosting, evaluate the complete service price, included tools and support level.
So, Ferozo or cPanel?
Ferozo is a much more complete panel than it was when this comparison was first published. For users already within DonWeb’s ecosystem, it can cover everyday hosting tasks well and offers modern tools including WordPress staging, Cloudflare, Git and OpenLiteSpeed in compatible environments.
cPanel retains clear advantages for portability between providers, a broader ecosystem, compatibility with different server platforms, and standardised management and migration tools.
We also find independent document roots for multiple domains, per-domain MultiPHP, WP Toolkit and mature CloudLinux and LiteSpeed integration especially useful.
For these reasons, Duplika continues to use cPanel. Ferozo can provide a good hosting service; cPanel better suits the infrastructure, portability and tools we want to offer our customers.
When migrating, the panel should not be your only question
Before changing hosting, review:
- Which websites and domains are hosted within each account.
- How many databases and database users exist.
- How many mailboxes and email messages need to move.
- Which PHP versions and extensions each application uses.
- Whether there are cron jobs, redirects or special configurations.
- How backups are created and restored.
- Which caching system and web server the new hosting uses.
- What assistance the provider offers during migration.
A well-planned migration can take place without visitors noticing the change, whether the source uses Ferozo, cPanel or another panel.
Frequently asked questions about Ferozo and cPanel
What is the Ferozo panel?
Ferozo is a hosting control panel developed by DonWeb. It manages domains, DNS, email, files, databases, PHP, backups and applications through a web interface.
Does Ferozo support LiteSpeed?
For compatible Cloud Servers and dedicated servers, DonWeb documents OpenLiteSpeed as an alternative to Apache. This corrects a limitation described in older versions of this comparison.
Can you migrate from cPanel to Ferozo?
Yes. Ferozo provides an automatic migrator from cPanel. DonWeb documents exceptions and follow-up tasks, particularly involving databases, SSL certificates, Webmail contacts and Addon Domains.
Can you migrate from Ferozo to cPanel?
Yes, but there is no universal account format that automatically converts every setting between the two panels. The destination provider normally migrates files, databases, email, DNS and required configuration, then checks each service before the final switch.
Does cPanel make a website faster than Ferozo?
Not by itself. Speed depends on infrastructure, resources, web server, PHP, database, caching, CDN and site optimisation. Either panel can be part of a fast or slow platform, depending on its implementation.
Want to migrate your hosting?
Duplika uses cPanel and can help move a site currently hosted on Ferozo or another panel. We review content, databases, mailboxes and configuration before changing DNS to minimise interruptions.
