On 30 December 2012, we announced that we had become official Cloudflare partners. The partnership expanded the tools we use to help customers improve content delivery and protect their websites.
Both Cloudflare and our infrastructure have evolved since then. Today, we offer help integrating Cloudflare with your hosting, alongside protection services built into our own network.
What Cloudflare does for a website
When a domain uses Cloudflare’s proxy, visitors’ requests pass through its distributed network first. Security controls can be applied there, and cached resources can be delivered.
A CDN stores copies of cacheable content at different network locations. Serving those resources from a location close to the visitor helps reduce network journeys and work on the origin server.
Requests that need to reach the application continue to the hosting server. Cloudflare and the server hosting your website therefore perform complementary roles.
Benefits for your visitors and team
Content distribution. Images, stylesheets and other cacheable resources can be delivered through Cloudflare’s network, reducing some of the server’s load.
Controls against malicious traffic. Available tools apply protection to web traffic. Their coverage and options depend on the domain’s plan and configuration.
Integration support. We help review DNS, HTTPS and caching so the configuration suits your site. For a store, for example, checkout pages and private content need appropriate handling.
What Duplika’s integration includes
Integration with Cloudflare’s free plan is available with our hosting plans. Cloudflare Pro is optional and purchased separately unless your plan expressly includes it.
The current configuration supports HTTPS and root domains; the limitations of the old 2012 integration do not describe today’s service. If you already use Cloudflare, we can review the account and coordinate the changes needed to host your website at Duplika.
See how Cloudflare’s proxy works to understand the difference between a record using its network and one operating through DNS only.
A partnership that also protects our infrastructure
Our relationship with Cloudflare extends beyond a website’s CDN. We added DNS Firewall to strengthen resolution for domains using our DNS servers.
We also added Magic Transit as network DDoS protection for all our servers in the United States and Europe. These measures are managed at infrastructure level and have a different scope from the proxy configured for an individual site.
